Don't worry, this is a short one!
There very first year we were open, we made a lot of decisions that helped determine our company culture, and one of them was how we were going to market our programs around the holidays.... if we were going to market them.
As we tossed around ideas, nothing felt right- because ultimately we believe that dog training is more than just getting obedience. It's not a product- it's a highly personal relationship experience that requires the investment of your time, commitment, empathy, and knowledge about how dogs work. Dog training is often a humbling experience, and one that people must take seriously if they hope to succeed. In the end, we decided that we did not want to diminish this commitment by subjecting it to the overall vibe of the most glutinous/convenient/"cheap" holiday of all- Black Friday.
Don't worry- as products go, we're going to be making a mad dash for the hot deals on all of our favorite gear just like everyone else (and we will try to keep you informed of the best deals)! We just personally feel that dog training programs are best left out of the fray, which is why we have so far opted to celebrate Small Business Saturday and try to focus on our community element instead.
Running a small business is an incredible feat, and people's dreams are made possible only when they have support from the people around them. What we have now with Mindful Canine was made possible by an handful of very hard working people, the Cedar City Small Business Networking Meetings (see our calendar), the Cedar City Business and Innovation Center- and most importantly, the most kind, patient, and supportive clients we could have ever asked for.
This season of giving, we hope you consider supporting small businesses and help people living next-door to you reach their dreams as much as you can reasonably do! Running our small business has been such a rewarding experience, we believe that anyone who wants to be a small business owner should have the ability to do so through the support of their community. We also believe that diversity in business and resources is what keeps our communities vibrant and healthy.
Happy Holidays- and have fun with your dog shopping!
This year SBS is on November 30th, so keep a lookout for our special offer!
